About Bello
Bello exists because of a gap. When you are diagnosed with Bell's palsy you get a leaflet, a course of steroids, and a follow-up in six weeks. Then you go home to the longest and loneliest part of it, with nothing to tell you whether anything is working at all.
The app gives you something to hold onto in that gap. These guides give you honest answers when you are searching at 2am. Both are built on the same belief: that people going through this deserve to be told the truth, gently.
Our editorial policy
-
We say when we do not know
Bell's palsy has genuine unknowns, starting with its cause, which is formally idiopathic. Where the evidence is thin or contested, we say so rather than manufacturing false confidence.
-
Lived experience is labelled as such
Articles written from personal experience carry a 'Lived experience' badge. Articles making clinical claims carry a 'Medically reviewed' badge and name the clinician who reviewed them. We never blur the two.
-
Safety outranks engagement
Every guide that touches onset leads with stroke red flags and the 72-hour steroid window, above any mention of our app. If that costs us conversions, it costs us conversions.
-
We are not a medical device
Bello tracks and guides. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure. We will not imply otherwise, and we will not describe the app as a replacement for care.
-
Corrections are visible
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the review date rather than quietly editing. Email us and we will act on it.
Who writes these guides
- Bello's founder Founder of Bello I had Bell's palsy twice. The second time round, I wanted to make the app I needed the first time. I write about what recovery is really like from the inside, though without my name on it.
How we make money
Bello is free to download. Some features are part of Bello Pro, a paid subscription. We take no advertising, we do not sell your data, and we have no commercial relationship with any clinic, device maker, or supplement seller. Nothing in these guides is a paid placement. Face-tracking data never leaves your device. You can read the details in our privacy policy.
Contact & corrections
Found something wrong, or want to tell us what these guides are missing? We would genuinely like to hear it, especially from people living this. You can reach us through the app, or via the support link on our App Store listing.
Bello is published by Fireport Ltd. Our guides are educational and are not a substitute for individual medical advice. Sudden facial weakness can indicate a stroke, so please seek emergency care.
