What this app does

Bello helps you track your facial movement and journal your recovery. We take your privacy seriously, especially since we know this is personal.

What we collect

Facial tracking data

We use Apple's ARKit face tracking to generate movement scores. This data is processed on your device and stored locally. We do not send your facial data to any servers.

Journal entries

Any notes or entries you create are stored on your device only.

Usage data

We may collect anonymous analytics to help us improve the app (such as which features are used most). This data cannot identify you.

TrueDepth API & Face Data

What we collect

Bello uses Apple's ARKit TrueDepth camera to capture facial blend shape coefficients (numerical values representing facial muscle positions such as eyeBlinkLeft, mouthSmileRight, browOuterUpLeft, etc.) and approximate facial landmark positions during face scans. We also capture face images when you perform a scan.

Specific blend shapes include: eyeBlinkLeft/Right, eyeWideLeft/Right, eyeSquintLeft/Right, browDownLeft/Right, browOuterUpLeft/Right, browInnerUp, mouthSmileLeft/Right, mouthFrownLeft/Right, mouthPucker, cheekPuff, cheekSquintLeft/Right, jawOpen, jawForward, noseSneerLeft/Right.

How we use this data

Face data is used solely to calculate facial symmetry scores for Bell's Palsy recovery tracking, provide real-time feedback during guided exercises, power therapeutic games that use facial expressions as controls, and store progress photos to help you visualize improvement.

Third-party sharing

We do NOT share your face data with any third parties. Your facial data never leaves your device.

Storage

All face data is stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage (UserDefaults). No face data is transmitted to external servers.

Retention

Face data is retained on your device until you delete the app or manually clear app data. When you delete Bello, all face data is permanently removed.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data.
  • We don't share your facial data with anyone.
  • We don't use your data for advertising.

Where your data lives

All personal data stays on your device. If you delete the app, your data is deleted with it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access your data, delete your data, and withdraw consent at any time.

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control. To delete everything, simply delete the app.
